Colchester, England's oldest
recorded town, enjoys a reputation for roses and oysters.
Since 1765, rose producers have been an important part of the
Colchester economy. Colchester's dry climate and slightly
warmer temperatures bring roses into flower before anywhere
else in England. In 1998 the first Colchester Rosé Wine was
produced as a colourful tribute to our town's connection with
the most English of all flowers. Made from the grape varieties
Phoenix and Dornfelder, this is a light, plummy, soft summer
wine for drinking in the sunshine on the patio. A wine to be
enjoyed this summer and not kept.
